Surprise Shooting
Drill
Purpose:
To escape
tight marking and to take unexpected shooting chances
Procedure: The squad is split
into three groups, with two goalkeepers in action throughout the
game - two portable goals are placed on the end lines. The coach
receives balls from the servers to keep the game continuous. He
serves the ball to a player whose team attack and try to score,
while the other team defend, although if they win the ball they can
attack. As soon as an attack is completed, the coach should serve
the ball to the other team, thus ensuring that play is
end-to-end.
Development:
(a)
The coach should
occasionally play the ball to players in situation where they will
have to react quickly.
(b) The coach can impose conditions, such as
only allowing one or two players from each team to score.
(c) The
scores should, as always, be
recorded.
