Shot Stopping
and Distribution Game
Purpose:
To develop
positional sense and to practice handling and ball distribution.
Procedure: In an
area approximately 30X20 yards wide, two portable goals are
placed on the end lines, with both goalkeepers facing each other
and having a good supply of balls placed at the back of each
goal. The first goalkeeper starts by rolling the ball along the
ground to try to score in the other goal, while the opposite
goalkeeper positions himself to save the ball. The ball should
be played backwards and forwards as quickly as possible so that
the pressure on both goalkeepers is continuous. As the practice
develops the goalkeepers can use over arm throws or
volley/half-volley kicks to try to score.
Development:
(a)
Record which goalkeeper scores the most goals in a given period.
(b) The goals can be moved nearer to each other or further apart
to make saving in the former or distribution in the latter more
difficult.
(c) A player can be placed within 10 yards of each
goal; he is allowed to score from any mishandling by the goal-
keeper.. |
