Hit the Target
Drill
Purpose:
To practice good all-round distribution of the ball.
Procedure: Target
areas are marked on realistic parts of the field; the
goalkeepers, who should have a good supply of balls, in turn
distribute the balls and try to hit the target areas where
retrievers are positioned. The coach can award scores according
to the degree of difficulty in hitting the different target
areas, and the goalkeepers can perform under and over arm throws,
goal-kicks, and volleys and half-volleys form the hands.
Development:
(a)
The coach can introduce an opponent to stand immediately in
front of the goalkeeper to see that he complies with the
four-step rule before distributing the ball.
(b) Players can be
introduced to stand in front of the target areas and try to
intercept throw-outs and kicks from the goalkeeper.
(c) Record
which goalkeeper gets the most successful throws or kicks in a
given time period. |
